Supervisory training

In the past several months, yourceus.com has been hard at work developing and presenting a best practices training for supervisors. This covers many of the most important components of being an effective supervisor to mental health clinicians: knowledge base, skill sets, structure of supervision, templates of important record keeping forms, and the important ethical concerns around supervision. We will be presenting another conference on supervision next month, November 8-10, 2012 at the NASW GA training center. As always, we will be working in co-sponsorship with our partners, NASW GA and LPCA. We plan to work with our other partners nationally to bring this program to other states. For more information, visit our web site at www.yourceus.com and go to the Live Training page.

Upcoming live training programs

As we noted earlier, this summer yourceus.com is going to be launching our series of live training programs, starting in Louisiana in June with a two-day program on important emerging areas in psychology and mental health. The dates for this program will be June 22-23. This program will draw from the groundbreaking research conducted by Daniel Kahneman, Michael Gazzaniga, and other leading researchers in the field, and will look to integrate the research into useable principles and approaches for clinical practice.

This program will be repeated and expanded during a three-day conference in August to be held in our home state of Georgia, and another conference is planned in July in Georgia on supervision. We are working in collaboration with the GA chapters of NASW and LPCA to develop a best practices approach to supervisory training that will meet standards for a supervisory certification process in Georgia.

Following this, we will begin to set our sights on bringing live training programs to other states throughout the country. Stay tuned.

Upcoming events

yourceus.com has recently celebrated our tenth anniversary of working to make continuing education a better and easier experience for mental health clinicians. Thank you to all of the social workers, professional counselors and marriage and family therapists from around the country who have supported the work that we do. And thanks for all the great feedback throughout the years.

As we enter this, our eleventh year, we are looking forward to making available a number of additional services to enhance what we do. First, we will be using this blog as a vehicle to post new and emerging information from the world of mental health, neuroscience and medicine. If it can be helpful and relevant to clinical work, we will try to keep you informed. We are hoping to make this blog site one of your favorites, so please check back with us on a regular basis.

Second, we are currently in the process of preparing some live trainings to present in conjunction with some of the state chapters of NASW and LPCA with whom we partner. Live trainings will be coming to Louisiana in late May or June, and to Georgia in July and August. Dates, times and topics to be presented will be posted on our site at http://www.yourceus.com/, as well as on this blog. Looking forward to a great year.
